I know it matters to you that our community has effective representation. That’s why I’m proud to let you know I’m running for the Pennsylvania State Senate in the 41st District.
I want to be your state Senator because I believe elected officials should be concerned about building a better district and state government, not getting reelected. I’m a father and small business owner who believes in moving our community forward by recruiting industry, building infrastructure, and funding education.
I’m excited for this opportunity, but I also understand that we’re in for a challenge. That’s why I need you on our team. Sign up here to show your support. Thank you.

Campaign 2020: DeLoreto Announces Run for State Senate Seat
Indiana businessman Tony DeLoreto has announced he is seeking the Democratic nomination for Pennsylvania Senate in the 41st District. The 41st District encompasses all of Indiana and Armstrong counties and parts of Westmoreland and Butler counties.
After serving in the U.S. Navy, DeLoreto graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a degree in journalism in 1988. In 1991, he opened Spaghetti Benders restaurant in downtown Indiana. He built the restaurant from the ground up, starting with the pots and pans from his kitchen. He and his wife, Cherry, now own the restaurant, and they have employed hundreds of people throughout the years.
On his desire to serve, DeLoreto remarked, “From good-paying jobs and a healthy environment to affordable health care and higher education, Harrisburg politicians are just not getting the job done. I think I can do a better job than Harrisburg politicians. Additionally, no one should stand unchallenged for their seat.”
DeLoreto serves on the board for the Chevy Chase Community Action Council and is co-founder of the Northern Appalachian Folk Festival Inc. He was formerly a big brother with Big Brothers Big Sisters and a Little League coach with the YMCA. He and Cherry have raised four children.
“As a business owner, Tony knows how to create jobs, and I’m more than happy to support his campaign,” Pennsylvania State Democratic Committee member Ron Fairman said in a news release.
DeLoreto is the first Democrat to officially announce for the seat. Pennsylvania’s primary election is April 28. The seat is currently held by Joe Pittman, R-Indiana, who was chosen in a special election last year to finish the unexpired term of Don White, for whom Pittman served as chief of staff.

Letter to the Editor: Character before politics
Something that often gets thrown to the wayside in elections is humanity. As elections approach, constituents begin to see candidates more for their platforms and policies and not who they are as people. I would contend that while candidates can stand for X or Y, who they are as a person matters the most.
One of the candidates for Pennsylvania senator in the 41st District, Tony DeLoreto, is a man of character. While he lacks political acumen, he exudes passion, accountability and perseverance. This is what we all need from politicians in our current historical moment!
I think the truest metaphor for his backbone is his family restaurant, Spaghetti Benders. While he has received help along the way, Tony has been the proverbial mortar between the bricks. Anyone who knows Tony is aware that he built the eatery from the sweat of his brow.
To me, nothing is more American than someone building a small, yet sustainable business from nothing more than a dream. Tony will take this mentality to Harrisburg and work for you, not re-election.
