The recent sale of Aquarion Water Company to the South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority (RWA) for $2.4 billion has sparked serious concerns about the future of water rates for people I have been talking to while campaigning. With billions in new debt, a history of rising rates, and weakened regulatory oversight, the long-term consequences could be severe. Water is a necessity, not a luxury, and Connecticut families should not have to pay the price for a poorly structured deal.
As this critical sale was being debated, residents of the 21st Senate district deserved representation. Yet, when it came time to vote last summer, Rep. Jason Perillo was nowhere to be found. This absence on such a crucial issue speaks volumes.
As your senator, I can promise you one thing: I won’t miss votes that impact you. Decisions about your water rates and your household expenses should not be made in a vacuum. Accountability matters, and leadership means showing up when it counts.
As your senator, I will fight to protect you from unfair rate hikes, hold utilities accountable, and never leave you without a voice in the decisions that affect your daily life.
