STRATFORD, CT – Today, following the release of Governor Ned Lamont's proposed budget, Democratic nominee for State Senate Tony Afriyie released the following statement:

“I am excited by Governor Lamont’s commitment to $300 million for a Universal Preschool Endowment, as well as funding for hundreds of new starter jobs through AmeriCorps. As an AmeriCorps alum, I know that those jobs can help kickstart the careers of young people while empowering them to do meaningful work in their community.

“I decided to run for state senate because raising a family in this state should be affordable, and we can help working families by passing a child tax credit, funding universal pre-K, and creating more workforce development programs for jobs like police and fire. These types of smart investments can make a huge difference for young people, and I’ll fight for them in the State Senate.”
